This track is dedicated to Robert Samuel Matthews who passed away on March 23rd, 2014. The writing of this song was begun within the week before his passing away, and the lyrics were written 3 days before. The coincidence and appropriateness of some of the lyrics considering the timing and situation lead to this song being the title song for the album and to its dedication to Robert Matthews.
During the final section of the song, a very quiet guitar part can be heard behind the other instrumentation. This was recorded using a Les Paul style guitar built from scratch by Robert Matthews in 2010.
lyrics
Like ten thousand hearts,
Beating in unison,
Like the fire that burns
In the souls of those who care,
Like an old man's untold story,
Lost to the grave,
In the Wake of a Dream,
You come to,
Wondering, who you are,
Like the silence of space,
Speeding through the stars,
Like the warmth of a friendship,
Which shall never degrade,
Like the path of a drop,
Of rain falling from the sky,
In the Wake of a Dream,
You come to,
remembering, who you aren't.
